How do you demonstrate your tech capabilities as a digital-first architectural practice?
For Resi, I decided to do it in an unexpected way: by creating an interactive murder mystery game using their 3D Matterport ‘digital twin’ laser scanners.
The concept was simple but ambitious. I wrote the main beats of a fictional murder-mystery novel (al la Agatha Christie) taking place in a large manor house. We then used an actual Resi customer’s property, capturing the space with Matterport’s laser scanning technology. Each room, or scan, became a scene in the story, complete with digital tags and clues integrated into the 3D environment.
This formed an interactive experience for customers, allowing them to explore the manor, uncover clues, and piece together what actually happened on the night in question—all within a fully immersive digital twin.
We launched the activation across Resi’s communications channels and saw a fantastic response. The project was even shortlisted for an award for the most innovative use of digital surveying technology.
